Professional Development Coordinator

 

Reports to: Chief Academic Officer

 

Purpose: Responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining a program of professional development for District personnel which supports the District’s strategic plan. This position will also oversee development and management of the District’s Professional Development annual budget.

 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates on the development of system-wide comprehensive professional development plan for all staff utilizing a process that engages in problem solving and data-driven decision-making aligned to district priorities and goals.
  • Monitors professional development services (e.g., consultants, course outcomes, staff training, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that performance outcomes are achieved within budget, department, and district objectives, and makes modifications as appropriate.
  • Analyzes and uses data to evaluate, improve and report on program effectiveness and progress towards goals.
  • Develops long and short-range professional learning plans/programs for the purpose of ensuring that district resources are effectively utilized.
  • Maintains a database of professional development resources and materials for staff access.
  • Collaborates with leaders to design services (e.g., training, programs, materials, etc.) for the purpose of implementing professional development program activities that address training needs of the district including multiple delivery modes (formal structured workshops and digital platforms).
  • Participates in the development of the district school calendar to ensure adequate professional learning time.
  • Keeps abreast of innovative professional development techniques to assess the quality of professional development activities; researches a variety of information (e.g., courses, materials, training consultants, etc.) for the purpose of developing programs that meet staff training needs.
  • Establishes communication systems to keep stakeholders regularly informed of professional development goals, plans and progress of the district professional learning program.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors district-wide learning management system for professional learning.
  • Identifies and incorporates current educational research and instructional strategies into training materials.
  • Collaborates with district leaders to ensure professional development meets the diverse needs of all educators.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education preferred
  • Five (5) years experience in public education

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force.
  • Regularly requires sitting, speaking, or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions. Occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, or pulling and lifting.
  • Requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities.
  • Ability to work in a moderately noisy location (e.g., business office, light traffic).
