Assistant Principal of Curriculum & Instruction
Reports to: Principal
Purpose: The Assistant Principal of Curriculum & Instruction will support all 6-8 staff in the implementation of the Rowan-Salisbury School System’s Directional System, specifically focus on Academic Skills. The Assistant Principal of Curriculum & Instruction will work directly with teachers to provide on-going embedded professional development, classroom-based demonstrations, collaborative and one-on-one feedback with support. The Assistant Principal of Curriculum & Instruction will focus on enhancing teachers’ ability to integrate the fundamental standards with content that builds students’ interpersonal skills and unique passions. The Assistant Principal of Curriculum & Instruction will work with teachers to collect and analyze data, interpret data, and use it to guide instructional decisions.
Qualifications
- Valid NC Teacher License
- Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary, Middle Grades, or Secondary Education
- Master’s Degree in Administration
- 5+ years proven successful classroom experience
- Deep knowledge of researched based instructional strategies, and evidence of successful implementation in a classroom environment
- Solid interpersonal skills (communication, problem solving, conflict management, collaboration) to share research based instructional approaches with teachers and provide advice, mentoring, coaching, and evaluations
- Experience in delivering effective professional development
- Ability to create and conduct customized professional development
- Strong organizational skills
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide personalized, classroom-based support to implement the Rowan-Salisbury School System’s Directional System. This will include but is not limited to:
- Development, implementation and leading of research based professional development opportunities focused on the RSS fundamental standards, interpersonal skills, and students’ unique passions
- Conduct instructional observation to ensure the successful implementation of professional development Conduct classroom walkthroughs to assess instructional practices
- Coaching and modeling of best teaching practices through demonstration lessons
- Guide teachers to collect and analyze data and develop instructional plans in response to identified student needs
- Lead Professional Learning Communities to assess student data to determine instructional gaps
- Collaborate with the Teacher Led Design Team to design, implement, and assess school change initiatives to ensure alignment and focus on intended results
- Other duties and responsibilities as identified by the district administration in support of the Rowan-Salisbury School System’s Directional System
Term of Employment: 10 months Pay: State Administrative Scale |
